     Coe College is a private, coeducational, residential college whose campus is located eight blocks from downtown Cedar Rapids, Iowa (pop. 175,000). One of 250 colleges in the nation and only four colleges in Iowa to have a Phi Beta Kappa chapter, Coe is ranked among the top 100 liberal arts colleges in America.

 

     Cedar Rapids Iowa (pop. 175,000) is a well-mannered Midwestern city centrally located about five hours by car from Minneapolis, Chicago, St. Louis, Kansas City, and Omaha. The city, which owes its recent growth to high-tech industries such as software and telecommunications, offers a major Museum of Art, a nationally recognized symphony orchestra, and a superlative community theater, plus the typical malls, movie theaters, and dance clubs.

 

     Coe's 85 full-time faculty, 85 percent of whom hold the highest degrees in their fields, teach small classes that average 16 students. Coe's 1,200 students, who enter college with an average high school GPA of 3.5, actively support more than 60 student clubs and organizations.
