Maria Dean is an assistant professor of
chemistry who received her Ph.D.from the University of
Nebraska, Lincoln in 1991. She also did post-doctoral
work at the University of Nebraska prior to joining the
faculty at Coe in 1994. Dr. Dean teaches Biochemistry,
Molecular Genetics, and has a special interest in

Susan Noreuil is the science teaching associate in
the department, and is also in charge of chemical health and
safety at the college. She received a B.S. in Medical Technology
from Illinois State in 1982, and continues to work in the
laboratory at St. Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids. She teaches
laboratories in introductory courses and Organic, and offers a

Martin St. Clair is an assistant professor of chemistry
and received his Ph.D. from the California Institute of Technology
in 1989. He taught and did research for one year at Occidental
College in Los Angeles, and was then Environmental Engineering
Laboratory director at the University of Iowa prior to coming to Coe
in 1993. He teaches Analytical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, and
Advanced Analytical Chemistry. He is also the co-coordinator of the
Environmental Science program, and team teaches Environmental

Scott Stoudt is an assistant professor of chemistry and received his Ph.D. from Michigan State University in 1995. After teaching for one year at Bennington College, he returned to MSU to do postdoctoral research. Dr. Stoudt was an assistant professor at Siena College prior to joining the Coe faculty in 2000. Steven
Singleton is an assistant professor who received his
Ph.D. from the University of Denver in 1994. He did
post-doctoral work at the Air Force Phillips Laboratory and
taught chemistry at Northern Arizona University prior to
joining the faculty at Coe in 1998. Dr. Singleton teaches
Physical Chemistry, Principles of Structural Chemistry and
Chemical Reactivity, and has special interests in the kinetics

Peter Wickham is Professor of Chemistry, Emeritus, and received
his Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1961.
After an eight year stint in industry with Sterling Pharmaceuticals,
he joined the faculty at Coe in 1969. Prior to retiring from
full-time teaching, Dr. Wickham taught Organic Chemistry I and II,
