THE FACULTY

The faculty in the chemistry department are at Coe because they enjoy teaching. While all are active in research, and view it as an important part of their responsibilities at Coe, they view teaching as their first priority. Each professor in the department teaches introductory courses for majors and non-majors, and team-teaches an Advanced Laboratory course and Senior Seminar.

maria Maria Dean is an assistant professor of chemistry who received her Ph.D.from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln in 1991. She also did post-doctoral work at the University of Nebraska prior to joining the faculty at Coe in 1994. Dr. Dean teaches Biochemistry, Molecular Genetics, and has a special interest in teaching Food Chemistry during Winter Term.
