REU: Research Experience for Undergraduates

Welcome to the Coe College Research Experience for Undergraduates website. This program is funded by the National Science Foundation and the DoD Assure program, with additional support provided by Coe College. Please feel free to examine the application materials, biographical sketches of the project supervisors, and project descriptions. The research program begins June 6, and concludes August 8, 2011. A stipend in the amount of $3,450 is awarded to all participating students. Free on-campus housing will be provided by Coe College, and travel funds are available to assist with moving expenses.

All students interested in the research experience at Coe College are encouraged to apply. An additional goal of our program is to provide a research experience for students from institutions where opportunities are limited, first-generation college students, and students from other underrepresented groups.

Government eligibility requirements stipulate that participants be citizens or permanent residents of the US.

REU: Research Experience for Teachers

The Coe College NSF RET program brings secondary education science teachers to campus for a research experience in one of the laboratory sciences. Participants have the opportunity to choose from the selection of projects in the REU program, attend weekly lectures, and use advanced instrumentation. A stipend of $6,000 will be paid to each teacher for the seven-week research term. Additional funds are available to help support travel to a scientific conference and present research findings. Coe College will provide housing for teachers who can not communte to the campus.
