AUDIOVISUAL DEPARTMENT

The Audiovisual Department, located in the lower level of Stewart Memorial Library, provides media and equipment in a variety of formats, which support the curriculum of Coe College.

   Friday  8:00 a.m. @ 6:00 p.m.

   Saturday 1:00 p.m. @ 5:00 p.m.

Summer Hours M-F  8:00 a.m. @ 4:30 p.m.

EQUIPMENT

The Audiovisual Department provides overhead projectors; slide projectors, digital video cameras, portable PA systems, tape recorders, record players, and CD players to the classroom.   Additionally, faculty and staff may check out equipment. 

MEDIA 

The Audiovisual Department purchases or rents instructional media for classroom use at faculty members requests.  This includes video and DVD formats.  Faculty is encouraged to recommend titles to be considered for purchase.  All purchased media are added to the libraryís collection.  The department has a collection of approximately 5,000 media titles available for use in the classroom.
 

FACILITIES

The department schedules room use for the following three media rooms:

Kesler Lecture Hall @ 156 seats plus 30 portable chairs
Library @ AV Viewing Room @ 12 seats

Library @ AV Theater @ 48 seats

Faculty and staff should schedule equipment, media and viewing rooms at least one week prior to the scheduled date. 

KESLER LECTURE HALL

Kesler Lecture Hall located in Hickok Hall, is equipped with the latest multi-media presentation equipment.  This equipment includes a digital projection system; a document camera; adjustable house lights; large screen; a VCR, a DVD player, computer (with VGA connection for laptops and ibooks) and access to the Coe College Cable Television system.  Channel 49 is reserved for live cable casting from Kesler Lecture Hall.  All the equipment are contained in a custom built lectern and conveniently controlled from a touch screen panel. The hall has a built in surround sound system and supports the use of wireless microphones. Comfortable theater style seats with tablet arms  and cup-holders complete the room

AUDIOVISUAL THEATER

The AV-Theater, located in the lower level of Stewart Memorial Library, is an electronic classroom and equipped with an overhead data projector, large screen, computer, VCR, DVD player and cablevision access.

AUDIOVISUAL VIEWING ROOM

The AV-Viewing room is a small classroom located adjacent to the AV circulation desk. The classroom is equipped with a large plasma screen with a combo VCR/DVD player, cablevision access, and VGA connection for laptops and ibooks.

AUDIOVISUAL RESERVE

Media placed on Audiovisual Reserve have a loan period of two hours and are not available for circulation outside the library.  Students must view reserve media in the  audiovisual department at one of the ten (10) viewing stations in the department.  All media requested for scheduled showings are placed on reserve two weeks in advance of the scheduled show date and remain on reserve for two weeks after the showing.  Personal copies of media may be placed on Audiovisual Reserve.  Library bar codes are affixed to personal media to facilitate circulation and provide security.

Coe College Cable Network

Coe College subscribes to  48 Cable Television Channels through the Coe College Cable Network..  Each dorm room, select classrooms and public areas have access to the network.

CABLE HOOK-UP

A coax patch cable is needed to connect your TV or VCR to the cable network.  This may be purchased from any electronics store or in the Audiovisual Department.
