The Coe College Physics Department will be glad to carry out complimentary individual measurements for local companies, and to pursue possible avenues of common interest. Our instruments allow us to measure a variety of physical parameters, and a short description follows. A listing of the actual instruments can be found elsewhere on the web page.
Sample preparation: We have dry nitrogen boxes and high precision balances for the manufacture of a variety of samples, as well as mid-range (< 1100 Celsius) and high range (1700 Celsius) furnaces. Quartz, platinum, zirconia, and vitreous carbon crucibles are commonly used. We are also capable of making thin sol-gel films with our computerized dipper.
