Acting
From
your very first semester, you can become part of the Coe College theatre
experience onstage. Auditions are open to the entire campus community
and you are welcome to participate, regardless of your declared or intended
major. We mount three mainstage productions each year, and additional
independent student-directed projects are always encouraged. Practicum
credit is available for production involvement.
The Coe College Department of Theatre and Drama is proud to be offering seven different classes that focus on the art of acting:
Acting I
Acting II
Advanced Acting: Shakespeare
Acting for the Camera
Musical Theatre Acting
Movement for the Stage
Voice and Diction
With these seven classes we give our students as thorough an overview as possible of the skills that will be demanded of them if they undertake an acting career. Their chances, however, of working in professional theatre will be greatly enhanced if they continue their training in a conservatory setting following their years at Coe. For this reason, much of our focus, particularly in the upper level courses, is aimed at preparing them for that experience.
