Coe's fifth president,
John Marquis, dies on July 5t in New York
City.

Stewart Memorial Library is completed.
1932

Coe and Drake student debate broadcast on
radio. Cosmos rated as the best college newspaper in the
state of Iowa.

Fall registration: 713 students at Coe (406
men, 307 women).
1933
1934
-
Coe's 45-voice a cappella choir, directed by
Paul S. Ray, receives favorable reviews from critic for the New
York Times.

98 degrees awarded to seniors at spring
commencement; 20 more degrees awarded at tend of summer session.
1935
1936

E. A. Ross gives commencement address,
celebrating his own 50th anniversary as a Coe alum; 110 students in
1936 graduation class.

The Cosmos reports that Prof. Leroy
M. Coffin has walked over 80,000 miles during his 20 years on Coe's
faculty.
1937
-
During the summer 4 faculty and 13 Coe
students went on Coe's annual geological expedition into the Rocky
Mountains.

New faculty at Coe includes Eleanor Taylor in
the Music Department; she will also continue as organist at First
Presbyterian.
1938

Plans revealed for new athletic field for
track and football; to be located between library and men's gym.

At commencement, cornerstone laid for Green
Hall, the college's first residence hall for men.

Dora Hamblin chosen as Cosmos editor,
50th anniversary of the college's newspaper.

Straw poll: Coe students overwhelming for
Wilkie over FDR.
