Philanthropy

The mission of Children's Cancer Charities is to help alleviate the
suffering of children with cancer. At local, national and international levels,
Tri Deltas offer financial and volunteer contributions
to the research and treatment of children with cancer.

Children's Cancer Charities encompasses a wide array of charitable organizations. Tri Deltas across the United States and Canada have donated goods, volunteered time and held fund-raisers for the research and treatment of a disease for which 240,000 children are diagnosed each year. Since 1974, Tri Deltas have raised more than $10 million in support of children's cancer hospitals, research facilities and cancer camps.

In November 1999, Tri Delta further enhanced its current philanthropic focus by forming a partnership with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. This partnership allows Tri Delta chapters the option to help St. Jude on a national level as well as support traditional philanthropic events for local children's cancer charities (tridelta.org).

DELTA ETA

As a chapter we are involved in a wide variety of philanthropies throughout the year, in no particular order, they are listed below.

DESSERT GALA:

The dessert gala is by far the biggest philanthropy our chapter conducts.  It is a silent auction and dessert sampling, which takes place in the spring.  All proceeds benefit both St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Heartland Connection Camp Children’s Cancer.

The first annual Gala took place on March 3, 2001 and our chapter raised approximately $3,600 exclusively for the benefit of the two charities.  The second annual Gala held on March 2, 2002 was a success as we raised approximately $3,800, despite a horrific snowstorm.

As a chapter we strive year after year to make the upcoming years better and bigger than each previous year.

TRICK-or-TREATING for CANS:

On Halloween the Chapter splits up into families, wearing letters, and goes door-to-door collecting non-perishable food items to be donated to either the Catherine McAuley Center or the Madge Phillips Center, which are both shelters for women.

We are always looking for new and exciting ideas.  Please check back as you will see our philanthropy list growing from day to day!
