The illustrations are by C. D. Gibson, Charles Dana Gibson (1867-1944), a painter and illustrator. He illustrated for “Life” magazine, “Cosmopolitan,” and “Collier’s” for many years. He acquired the original “Life” magazine and served as editor. (Source: Mantle Fielding’s) Research: Chris Butler.
