Happy Birthday, Mr. Mozart - Mozart's Wind Music at 250
Coe College Faculty/Student Chamber Winds - Coe Mozart Ensemble
In honor of the 250th anniversary of the birth of Mozart, Coe students and faculty formed an ensemble to perform one of Mozart's greatest compositions: the Serenade No. 10 in Bb, KV 361: the Gran Partita. This ensemble performed on Thursday, May 11, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at the Iowa Bandmasters Convention in Des Moines at the Hotel Fort Des Moines. The performance was a GREAT success, and we were glad to have one last chance to work with Steve Colton before his passing in August 2006.
The ensemble will present this masterpiece in the context of Mozart's contribution to the significance of music for winds.
