A "theatre company" consisting of actors, designers, a stage manager, costume, set, and lighting crew (plus an accompanist and choreographer, if needed). The company, working in a professional atmosphere, has as its goal the mounting of the chosen production in a concentrated time period. Actors need to audition prior to registration. The basis for student evaluation will be completion of assigned duties and quality of work. Open to all students. (Only two Winterstock classes may count toward the theatre major or minor.)
Primary emphasis is placed on the formation of a company with a professional attitude, participating in all aspects of production in the tradition of stock theatre. Members of the acting company are selected by auditions. Technical positions are obtained by signing up with the Technical Director prior to registration. This year we produce the musical Cabaret.
Rehearsals begin on January 3. The company works six to seven hours each day, five days a week. The company needs to return to school Friday, February 1 to begin technical and dress rehearsals.
Final Rehearsals: Company members need to be available all evenings and weekends until the close of the production (February 1-16, 2002).
Performance dates: February 8, 9, 10, 14, 15, 16, 2002. Strike following the last performance.
