| Greg Morton (bassoon, saxophone), Greg Morton
is a member of Cedar
Rapids (IA) Symphony Orchestra hailed by Time Magazine as an "organization
[that] has . . . become a model for the whole
country." As a member of
WiZARDS! Dr. Morton
has had numerous international performances, and is featured on four CDs.
He also performs with the Dubuque, Waterloo, Des Moines,
and Quad-City Symphony Orchestras, the Des Moines Metro Opera, and the Joffrey Ballet Orchestra. His degrees were earned at the University of
North Texas and the University of Iowa. Prior to earning his Performance
Certificate at Northwestern University, he served on the faculty at the
University of Southwestern Louisiana. Currently he serves on the faculty
of Coe College in Iowa
as instructor of both bassoon and saxophone. He has served on the faculty
of Lutheran Summer Music and the Iowa All-State Music Camp and has participated
in the Great Music West Festival. Last summer, Dr. Morton and WiZARDS!
performed at the International Double Reed Society convention in
Melbourne,
Australia. This was his fifth appearance on programs of the IDRS.
Of his original compositions and over 40 arrangements, several have been recorded and may be found on the 4 WIZARDS! CDs. In 1996, his woodwind quintet transcription of Peter and the Wolf, received performances throughout the Midwest and at the Aberystwyth International Music Festival in Wales. |
