Congratulations to the 10 Coe College band students selected for membership in the 2008 Iowa College All-Star Band. This 100-piece ensemble, made up of students from seventeen different colleges and Universities, will rehearse and perform at the Iowa Music Educators conference in Ames, November 21 and 22. These students will work with renowned composer and conductor, James Curnow, and will present a concert on the campus of Iowa State University at 2:30 pm on Saturday, Nov. 22.
The selection of ten Coe band members for this ensemble is a remarkable achievement, especially considering Coe's size in comparison to schools like the University of Iowa, Iowa State, University of Northern Iowa, Drake, and Luther. It speaks highly of the respect the selection committee (made up of college band directors) has for the music program at Coe College. Since the organization was founded fifteen years ago, Coe has had more students selected for the ensemble than any other school in the state of Iowa.
